Painting the beauty of nature in words.

Updated: Aug 16, 2021

While returning from work the other day, my ears were stuffed with earphones and my mind was describing the beauty which I saw enroute home…

The weather was perfect, road brushed with a brief spell of soft rainfall with heady scent of wet earth. Together with the melodious song and the mother nature’s overwhelming beauty, I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. The silhouette of the hill which houses temple of Maa Kali, was lined with clouds. Below was a canopied entrance reaching to that hill where the road seemed emanating from the womb of the hill. As I rode along, the blissful lake with its serene water welcomed my eyes. Adding to the lake’s beauty was the slowly eroding silhouette of the hill and the golden sun peering through the clouds. Further the road curved like a graceful bharatanatyam dancer showing glimpses of the hill. The road then narrowed down spreading out later to the side of the hill. The lake meanwhile, reappeared again reflecting the green color of the hill. A tree with its branches low, touching the lake spread out in a corner, housed a few white birds.. like the stars studded in the black sky..

As I rode along, the trees and green patches were now clearly visible on the hill. The meandering road took me through the fringes of some old historical structures. It was laced heavily with trees and a secret forest behind. A small stream flowed silently along the boundary of the forest patch. Soon, I passed from under a Neem tree, it’s branch shaped like a palm as if blessing the passers by. Heading further along the curvy road, came a gaint Banyan tree, its trunk atleast a metre wide. It’s roots hanging over the sides made it appear a beautiful maiden of nature, the stream touching her feet while passing on her way.

The sun was watching me it seemed.. keeping a watchful eye on what I observed of the nature. Through the curtain of soft fluffy clouds, it peeped now and then playing hide and seek among the trees. Some of the stray paths carved out of the side of the road could have taken me to this secret forest hidden by the boundary of trees. The sun had spread its golden amber all over the sky and appeared in its full grandeur, making the curtain fall on this play of nature as I entered the buzzing little town. Everything seemed to have a golden hue of the sun, however deep the murkiness crept beneath the town’s secrets. The sun drifted far behind the curtain of clouds, as I lost the sight of it in the reality of the old buildings and market crowd of the town.
