Life is a journey, and each one of us a voyager. We travel on our unknown assigned routes with no itenary, tickets or prior booking in hand. Everything just happens and we’re the spectators of the thing called life that occurs on our own exclusive big screen.
Something similar happened with me yesterday. I reached as planned in the campus for convocation ceremony. I was very happy to meet all my friends and experience the same feelings once again. Soon, all the friends began pestering me to stay back for the night and have fun. I had to go back as I had no holiday after weekend and had to attend the office.
Day passed quite quickly and it usually happens when you are with your squad. I was pissed in between peer pressure and parental pressure. As an official but so called ‘grown up’ I was expected of others and myself also, to handle this situation as a breeze. But it didn’t go as expected, hence it has found its way in this blog post.
By the time convocation was over, I was being asked to leave the campus as I had to reach Ahemdabad today, so that I could rest well and attend office next day. I was in a fix, because my next ticket in Tatkal had gone wrong and everything was haywire. The train that I had to catch was late.
Eventually, I decided to leave to Solapur to catch the train. The auto didn’t come on time, and the train decided to cover up the distance till it reached Solapur, so that ‘The inconvenience caused doesn’t has to be deeply regretted’ by Indian Railways. Meanwhile, a miscommunication about train’s running status made me feel completely hopeless that I can’t catch the train whatever.
Thus, I sat down on the road, with tears in my eyes flowing down rapidly, after I again checked the running status and found out that the train was still half an hour late, and maybe I could just catch it. The auto had returned already with other passengers. I was completely exhausted and clueless as to what to do next and how to reach office in time on Monday.
My friend booked sleeper bus ticket for me. Thus sorted, I calmed down after an hour or so and went to sleep after having name sake dinner.
Next day, everything went as planned for God’s sake. But once, we reached somewhere near Lonavala, we had missed the bus. It had turned round the flyover and we were running behind it. We were glad that it stopped. We boarded it and had laughed very hard.
All of it was very much emotional.. and till now, I am thinking how come the urge to go to office had turned into an urge of not going away from each other. The reunion didn’t take place as planned, and everyone travelled back to their places in hotch potch ways but I learned two important lessons.
One: Not everything goes as planned always.
Two: It’s okay to not be able to handle a situation as expected.
