Welcome Ashore From The Doldrums Of Depression.

Updated: Aug 16, 2021

A well-known term and loosely used, depression is a thing that hits many. Around 1-10 million people get affected by Depression in the United States. While in India, the figure scales to 10-100 million. That accounts for around 3% of the US population and 2.2% of Indians affected.

Thus said, a lot of talking has already started in India. People have started to come up to share their suffering. Depression is like a bipolar ocean doldrum trapping its victims in unpredictable storms.

So welcome aboard the ship which takes you ashore to safety from seething storms of depression. This blog is to help people floating in uncertainty.

The reason why I considered starting a blog about 'Growing with Depression' was that I have learned to grow with it. This is a hope that this blog might help people gain a ray of hope. By planting a hope, there is a chance that will grow into a fruiting tree of happiness.

As 'Q' from 'Skyfall' had correctly said," A grand old warship being ignominiously hauled away for scrap... Inevitability of time, don't you think? " To 'Bond', the warship was still grand. It faced very many wars and conquered them too, proudly displaying its scars now retires to rest.

Growing with depression works similarly. You learn to caress your scars that don't hurt anymore. Those are memories of how you have undergone episodes of fitful crying, anxious drawn breaths or sleepless nights.

But once ashore, one might feel safe and be able to watch the doldrums at a distance sometimes. That does not assure you that it won't creep up stealthily at night and drag you subconscious silently, straight in the eye of the storm.

With this, I hope 'Growing with Depression' becomes a nice cosy tea room. A place where people can share what they're going through. A place to help everybody grow through depression.
